Our Vision is to build capacity for infectious diseases diagnosis by strengthening the infrastructure and technical capabilities of laboratory staff in clinical microbiology, biochemistry and hematology and by strengthening the capacity of health care providers to accurately diagnose infectious diseases primarily in the developing world.
Our Mission shall be accomplished through:
- Training laboratory staff in microbiology, biochemistry and hematology in developing areas of the world in laboratory testing methods that will allow reporting of actionable laboratory information to clinicians dealing with infectious diseases in their patients. The training program includes providing workshops and written materials to serve as training tools and laboratory work aids.
- Providing experienced laboratory scientist volunteers to work with laboratory staff on completion of workshops to help the local workers develop expertise and confidence in laboratory practices.
- Providing experienced healthcare professional volunteers to work with clinical staff in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious disease including appropriate use of the microbiology laboratory services in hospitals in which DMDP works.
- Assisting local agencies to determine appropriate materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for reliable laboratory testing, and when requested, to aid in procurement and utilization of those materials.
